Last Day Tomorrow!

Dear JK Families,

We have had an AMAZING year together and it’s a bittersweet feeling that we are all feeling today! Your children have been asking for this for a few weeks and we are happy to announce that tomorrow (Wednesday, June 28) will be….. A PYJAMA PARTY!!!!! Please send your child dressed in weather-appropriate pjs (no fleece!), bring a small stuffy, some snacks and water. We will not need lunch as it is a 12:00 pm dismissal.

We are also sending home a lot of things your children have worked on throughout the year. Please send an extra canvas bag in case their backpacks get too heavy. Some of the folders have summer practice pages, so please keep an eye out for those.

Thank you so much for being a part of the 2022-23 OJCS JK family, we LOVED having your children in our class this year, and watching them grow and become the amazing, confident, kind, unique individuals that they are today.

Keep in touch! Have a fabulous summer!

Warmly,

Morah Susan, Monsieur Ebbs, and Morah Mushki

Shalom JK families!

We had such a lovely time yesterday with all of our special visitors yesterday morning for generations day, we hope they come back and visit soon!

We have a busy schedule over the next two weeks so here are some important dates and reminders:

  • Friday, May 19: Dress down day! JK has decided to have a PJ day, so wear your cozy pjs, bring a stuffy (as long as it fits in your backpack), and some friends even want to wear their slippers as indoor shoes!
  • Monday, May 22: NO SCHOOL Victoria Day
  • Thursday, May 25: DAIRY DAY in honour of Shavuot we are having an assembly with a special dairy treat! We are also collecting donations of food items for the Ottawa Kosher Food Bank. Please see flyer below for more details.
  • Friday, May 26: NO SCHOOL Shavuot

Please remember to send your child dressed appropriately for the weather, which includes a light jacket or sweatshirt, rain gear if needed, a sun hat, and please consider applying sunscreen in the morning. You can also send in sunscreen for your child to reapply before we go out later in the day.

Reminder!

This Friday, March 3rd, dismissal is at 3:00 pm!

Next week is Ruach Week, where every day of the week is an opportunity to dress up in a different theme.
See the poster below for the schedule.

Another way we celebrate is by going to the school-wide Purim Carnival. To make it even more fun, students can win tickets and trade them in for prizes! We are looking for donations of gently used toys and tchatchkes to be used as prizes. If you would like to donate something and are unsure if it is appropriate, please send us a picture and we will let you know!

JK will be visiting the Book Fair on Tuesday, December 6th and the kids will have a chance to buy some books. We sent home a flyer earlier in the week, and you can also check out the Virtual Book Fair Link with your child and pick a few options – it will give you a sense of how much money to send to school. We ask that you send your child’s money in a ziploc baggie with their name on it and the total amount you are sending. You can also send a list of preferred books with your child, though we cannot guarantee that every title will be available.  If you would prefer to buy online, that’s also great, but please ensure that your child understands that they will not be buying a book at school (to avoid disappointment).
Parents are also welcome to visit the Book Fair! See the poster below for more information. The book fair will be open during Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday night from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and Friday morning from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm.
